Walk through the doors of the rather grand Victorian building that once housed Glasgow's first power station (circa 1892) and I guarantee you'll be gobsmacked by the very stylish bar and restaurant.

Check the glossy pics on the website ( if you don't believe me.

The Limelight (it's on Waterloo Street, by the way, just a short stroll from Central Station) is open from 7am for breakfast (which, complete with square-sliced sausage, looks amazing) and an attractive bar menu (noon until 11pm) offers everything from haggis fritters and salted pretzels to burgers and breaded scampi.

Cooking style: Modern British

'In a swanky setting with a thoughtful contemporary brasserie menu the chef blends crowd-pleasers with dishes that extend the culinary boundaries. There's plenty evidence of ingredients of good provenance and emphasis on seasonal produce from small producers. The selection of six dessert pots is a must for those who like their puddings. Well-priced wines.'

Had a fabulous meal there tonight. Connor was very attentive but all the staff were polite, accomodating & friendly. The food was amazing - thoroughly recommend moules marinere, fillet steak & the fab limelight dessert pots :)

We booked a table for 13 people for lunch and ended up being 17 of us. David and his staff were fantastic and added tables to our party with no fuss. The service was fantastic and the food was great value for money. A very well priced set menu and a glass of wine included, as well as a choice from the A La Carte menu. The rooms in the hotel are stunning, fresh and modern. Will definitely be back. A great venue for "ladies who lunch" as well as being a great place for a business lunch.
